HALE KEWALO TO PROVIDE NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING OPTION NEAR ALA MOANA

The project by Stanford Carr Development, LLC will offer 128 affordable units

HONOLULU, HI—Stanford Carr Development, LLC is excited to announce the highly anticipated completion of Hale Kewalo, our Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) project, located at 450 Piikoi Street across from Ala Moana Center. The 11-story mid-rise  residential tower will consist of 128 affordable rental apartments offering residents modern style accommodations with energy saving appliances, air-conditioning and solar water heating as well as bundled telephone, TV cable and internet. Further, Hale Kewalo will provide residents with an on-site management office, community lounge and recreation room with kitchen, and laundry facility.

Hale Kewalo will offer 27 one-bedroom, 72 two-bedroom, and 29 three-bedroom units to families earning between 30 and 60 percent of the area median income (AMI).   We strongly encourage families that meet the income criteria to apply. Rent will be dependent on AMI and the number of rooms. The monthly rent for a one-bedroom unit will range from $656 to $1,093. A two-bedroom unit will range from $787 to $1,575 per month. Rent for a three-bedroom unit will be $1,819 per month.

Utilities such as solar hot water heating, sewer, and trash collection are included in the total rent amount. Tenants will be responsible for other utilities such as electricity, telephone, TV cable and internet. Small pet(s) are permissible.

Hale Kewalo will be managed by Hawaii Affordable Properties, Inc. and will start accepting applications on March 1. “We have many years of experience in property management and our passion is for managing the homes that people love to come home to,” said Michael Sohriakoff, president of Hawaii Affordable Properties.
